I'm experiencing the same problem.  I'm running Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview build 10547.  I've run the BFE fix tool, the AVG Remover tool, the Reset Access tool and turned Windows Defender off but still no installation.  The progress bar gets to 100% and then fails with the error notification.
Frank CzapFrank Czap

i reported this issue to Microsoft as an AVG installment prior to the 10547 release works fine. Its only the install on 10547 that has an issue. It appears to be missing a plugin. The log file was made available to Microsoft.

I had problems installing AVG free on a new Acer Windows 10 tablet.  I got the error this thread relates too.  I did a complete uninstall using the AVG remover, I then ran AVG resetaccess and AVG BFEfix.  I reinstalled AVG free and I then got no errors.  The procedures contained in this thread worked for mr.

how come we all have this issue .....Error code: 0xC0070643 Description: Event exec_finished .....and AVG has no answers to this error or No technician available ...... come on AVG ..when are you going to reply to my two emails I have send a aweek ago ... ... maybe we should let everyone know how bad this issue is ... I rang Mircosoft and it's no windows 10 issue ....

I have the same issue on a Brand new Acer laptop with Windows 10. Removed McAfee with McAfee Remove tool. Uninstalled AVG and AVG Remove Tool. BFEfix too. I still have the same error message installing AVG Ultimate. Is there a Solution? AVG have known about the problem since September. Where is the solution???
Frank vdMFrank vdM

Hay!

I'll had the same isseu. Zen installed ok but the protection part didn't
I read al lot of this toppics on AVG.com and no luck.

Maybe this will help some one out:
deinstall all AVG software (normal way)
restart your computer
use CCleaner to cleanup your register
restart your computer
reinstall AVG_Protection_Free_698.exe
(it didn't work directly for me but when i tried second time to open the AVG_Protection_Free_698.exe so it overwrite the installation wich gives me an new message: restart is needed so i did and it finaly complete the total installation of AVG)

note:
I have been struggle over 3 hours to fix this stuppid installation...
It looks like an campatibility with the newest release of Windows10 (nov 2015, version 1511, build 10586) - So please AVG developers keep it working with newest releases, specialy if remove tools didn't do the trick for fixing/reinstalling AVG. I'm using AVG almost 10 years but since Windows10 i'll faced several isseus that cost me years of my life :P

This is the response I got after 2 days of waiting:

This issue occurs only when there is any conflicting software/ similar kind of software in the computer . So we need to uninstall the conflicting software and then try installing the Product .

I couldn't have my laptop go without anti-virus outside the house. So, I had to buy another anti-Virus software bitdefender total security 2015. It wasn't compatible with Windows 10 either. But I was able to go online and find a link to download a compatible version. And it is working on my laptop.

hey guys I worked it out how to fix this issue that everyone is having .....
Problems installing AVG ..
if AVG is installed on your computer you need to uninstall it.
by use AVG_Remover.exe ... this can be downloaded on the  AVG site.
restart your computer and now download CCleaner and run it .
after running CCleaner restart your computer again ..
now reinstall AVG ....if your still having problems with installing the full AVG software .
just install the Virus protection only ..
after installing the virus pretection ..open AVG and then go
to Options and click on about AVG ..
go to License and Support and entre your License Number .
if lic is valid then AVG will let you know that
you can download the full version
install it and your done ... it has worked for me
 ...

Hello,

Unfortunately I have the same problem as everyone else on this thread. It's my uncle's computer (new Asus laptop with Windows 10). He had a working AVG Free install, but he suddenly (maybe after some other program upgraded) got the error messages about the MS Visual C Redistributable dlls missing and then he tried reinstalling AVG Free to no avail. He brought the computer for me to look at, and I got the dll issue fixed by removing all programs installed by AVG (had to use AVG remover), including the redistributables, and reinstalling. Now, whatever I do, I get the 0xC0070643 exec_finished when trying to install AVG Protection. I have administrator level access to the computer. I tried to look inside the install log cab file, but even though I found the error inside one of the log files, it doesn't help me much. I'm going to send the AVG_SysInfo output to AVG support tonight, unless I figure out some way to fix this problem myself.

AVG (Free) has been working fine on a new Windows 8.1 PC for the last couple of months.  Today, I got an error message telling me that avgwdsvc.exe was preventing me from ejecting an external hard drive.  I found this thread on your website: https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b00000008mrGAAQ.

I followed the instructions to use the AVG Removal Tool, but cannot now reinstall AVG.  I have tried a number of times.  I even did an Uninstall from the Control Panel and tried again.  I’ve tried installing the latest version (AVG_Protection_Free_1025.exe) and an older version still in my Downloads folder (AVG_Protection_Free_698.exe).  Like others here, I get "Error code: 0xC0070643 Description: Event exec_finished".

Please advise.

Same issue here - I have be trying to install AVG on my new Windows 10 machine for the past few days and I have been getting the same error message:
Error code: 0xC0070643
Description: Event exec_finished

I have followed all the advice given to the others on the forum - remved all other antivirus software and ran the BFE_Fix tools and the AVG_Remover tool and uninstalled all previous AVG vrsions and tried to reinstall using different .exe files - still unsuccessful. It's really frustrating, especially since I've been using AVG for almost 10 years and have recommended it to a lot of friends and colleagues an it's always been a quick and pain-free installation every time - whatever the issue is, please fix it and make an announcement on how to bypass it, as it has been an issue for a lot of us. Thank you very much for our help and assistance!

I was having the same problem (Error code: 0xC0070643 Description: Event exec_finished) on a brand-new PC but after aboyut a dozen attempts, Divya's instructions above have now solved it for a 64-bit Windows 8.1 system.  If it is really all about 32-bit or 64-bit systems, the description needs amending to something more useful.

Guessing here but, could be a compatability issue between Windows 10 (64 bit) & ZEN.  Before ZEN was included in the AVG 2016 (64 bit) installation package I had no problems installing AVG 2015 free edition on my Win 10 (64 bit) machine.  Updating to the latest AVG free 64 bit edition with ZEN included causes this error, even on a machine with no other programs yet installed.  Running latest AVG removal tool won't help.  Downloading & installing Visual Calc++ offers no relief, and is included in the AVG installation package anyway.  Unfortunately, I deleted my copy of the full installation package of AVG Free 2015 edition and can't reinstall it.  I'm sure that would solve my problem if it wasn't that AVG wants to automatically upgrade to 2016.

Would like a method of stopping automatic upgrades (not updates) or would like a downloadable version  of AVG Free without ZEN included or an option during installation not to install ZEN.
James LouthJames Louth
Forgot to mention that installing the full installation package of AVG 2016 (AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe) will not solve the error problem.  Neither will the suggested AVG_BFEfix.exe solution or reinstalling.  Support staff is clueless & the remote techsupport was useless.  They suggested I purchase the Ultimate edition, which they said was compatable.  But, as as indicated by another user, they had the same problem.

Okay, so it seems like my postings on this thread have disappeared (or they are on another seemingly identical thread), and my computer is now fixed. I will tell you what the Advanced Expert at AVG did on my computer in the hopes that you (the technically savvy person) can try this yourself and save a lot of heartache and unnecessary remote support sessions with AVG.

To begin with, my computer is running Windows Vista, and it had AVG 2012 originally installed on it, but when I did the update to the latest release (2016), I got the 0xC0070643 error when the installation failed. At this point, I tried AVG Remover, but it just crashed. I tried installing Avast, but it said that AVG 2012 was still installed. I scrubbed everything related to AVG from the Registry and the files, but the error came up at the very end of the installation process every time.

In the final remote support session, the technician did the folllowing:
- Looked in Programs and Features to see if AVG or any other antivirus was installed. None were.
- He unnecessarily (imo) uninstalled Super Antispyware.
- He deleted everything in a few TEMP folders.
- He downloaded and ran the AVG Sysinfo program that sent a file to AVG for analysis and escalated me to their Advanced Experts because they needed to analyze the Sysinfo results to determine what was wrong.
- I got an email from Advanced Expert syupport folks giving me the hours for their advanced support and a new link for the remote control session.
- In the Advanced Expert remote session, the new tech then did the same basic stuff, then tried starting the BFE Service (Base Filtering Engine) manually as it was not running.
- He could not start it manually, so he went into the registry (HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\BFE) and changed the Permissions for Users and Administrators to Allow Full Control.
- After doing this, he was able to start the BFE Service and then ran the AVG installer, which successfully concluded.

I fail to understand why I was not able to just get someone to tell me to do this. For anyone with a reasonable amount of technical acuity, these steps were very simple and would have saved me a lot of tume.

In the end, I am happy, but having to go through this was unnecessary.

AVG still makes a great product, they just need to rethink their policy on publishing these kinds of fixes.

WARNING!

I tried using Kishore's instructions and I'm not able to control my PC now!

I ran the AVG remover exe link he supplied and immediate found the browser downloading the file over and over again.  At the fourteenth download I powered down my machine.

When I restarted, AVG was gone, but it would not allow me to reinstall.  My Network drive was no longer accessible and when I tried to google, or return to this forum, my browser would just keep flipping to weird sites.  Flashes, that appear like balloons then appeared on my screen.

I shutdown my PC and haven't turned it on since!

I'm on Windows 7. I got an error that AVG GUI could not load some DLL so I thought okay, no problem, I just reinstall AVG Free, this will install any missing DLLs.

Then I ran into the same problem this long thread is about.

I DID run the various tools recommended here, and AVG definitely is completely gone from my PC - still, I cold not install AVG Free, I always got this error.

I sovled it by installing another anti-virus software. Again, AVG was definitely gone, I ran the removed, I ran CCleaner, I ran AVG_BFEfix.exe too. Nothing helped to get AVG installed. I had no trouble at all with another vendor's product.

This problem-thread is amazing - so long and always the same reply. I sure would not want to be the service rep. who has to answer to all us irate users, but I also think it's really weird what is happening here, and for so long by now.

AVG appears to keep breaking the "Microsoft Visual C++" installations. I noticed windows kept reinstalling a succesfully installed updated for C++. I went into "Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features" found all my C++ installations, I had Redistributables for 2010, 2012 and 2013 in x86 and x64 installations. I went to each one of them and hit "Change" then "Repair" on each one of them then rebooted and now everything with AVG loads, except the firewall. I still can't get the AVG Firewall to install and when I try to it gives me an error code then breaks parts of AVG and I have to rerepair the C++ installations and reboot.

My question is why is AVG corrupting the C++ installs? I'm getting really close to demanding a refund. Your anitvirus isn't worth the headache.

Hello Kevin,

The Microsoft application that is discussed here is the application that is necessary for the AVG program to function perfectly on the Microsoft operating system. Only if that file is installed perfectly, AVG program can work on Windows.
Did you download the Microsoft tool from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=30679  and install it on your PC?

This is absolutely rediculous.

I have been using AVG for years without any problems until 3AM this morning when Windows 10 did an update. After a restart AVG had a "License Error" and asked me to re-enter my license number....how on earth was I to know my license number for a free version?

At this point i decided to un-install AVG and try to re-install it to resolve the problem.

To my astonishment, I noticed there was an install in my programs and features called "AVG" and "AVG Protection" which was installed today.....I did NOT request this software to be installed.

It will NOT allow me to uninstall it, so I have used the AVG Remover tool

Now, It will NOT allow me to install a new version of AVG without it giving me this AVG ZEN software which I do not want....

I really hope this new AVG update is not permanent, as I will simply find an alternative Anti Virus for me personally.

Why should users be sent an Email with further instructions!? Stop wasting our time and put the instructions in plain view of everyone to help them.

Same pattern of problems:
I had to uninstall AVG free (via AVG removal tool) to fix a missing MSVCR110.dll issue (via a repair of Visual C++). Apparently an issue linked to an update of Windows10 (see https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b0000000DA0pAAG).
However, when trying to reinstall AVG Zen (free protection), despite several attempts, I always get at the end of the process the error code  "0xC0070643" - Event exec finished.
As the problem seems to be widely shared (it occurred on my two ASUS laptops!), would it be possible for AVG support team to publish a fix that works on this thread ?
Thank you for your cooperation

I have written instructions of the steps I took to install AVG after the 0xc0070643 error code. I am running a Windows 10 64-Bit Machine. I do not consider myself a computer professional although, I do have CompTIA A+ and Network+ Certifications, and currently studding for Microsoft’s 70-680 and 70-687 exams. I am just a computer Geek who likes to help people, and let me know if I helped you.
Here is a link to the instructions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6gPWZ2emCXLVU9QUkhaRDVpRVU/view?usp=sharing
***I would recommend performing these steps not connected to the internet, because you will have no antivirus software installed at some points, just to be precautious. So be sure to download the instructions and the three installers in the instructions prior to starting and look over the conflicting applications list, all links are in the instructions.***

I found an easy solution; if you encounter "error code 0xcoo70643" and you couldn't complete installation you need to repair your registries.

Start by downloading a program called ccleaner at https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner
Select the free version, download, and install it. When you get it running, click on "Registry" on the left hand side. Then you will see a blue button that says "Scan for Issues", let it scan for at least 10 minutes or until it says its complete, then press "Fix selected issues" and tell it to fix ALL of the issues it detected. Then try running avg install and go through the whole process of restarting your computer and it should work.

I tried probably every other method including using 64 bit java since the computer I use has 64 bit windows, but that didn't work. It turns out that many of the registry files aren't setup properly so programs that use permissions like Avg's firewalls can't install or work correctly unless the registries are repaired.

After multiple tries of combination of items which are mentioned in this discussion, I failed to resolve the problem. I then followed the response/links from Divya in this discussion which worked for me. Hope it does for you as well. (note step 3 below is something I did different).
  1. I downloaded AVG Remover and ran it twice (with restarts in between to ensure no AVG files remain)
  2. Then I deleted the AVG remover folder from Windows sub-directory (manually)
  3. Additional step I did was SHUTDOWN my computer NOT restart after the step 1 completed.
  4. I then installed the AVG for 64 bit just the basic protection (see link under Divya's response)
  5. It worked :-)   Good Luck to you all.

This is the second time in a couple of months that I'm unistalling and reinstalling because it is confused about a license key. Each time I run into this same unistall error and use the AVG Remover. Had AVG Pro, installed on Win 10 64 bit.
Changed video cards in my system, after that AVG was asking me for a Key (not suposed to since use an account instead).
Anyway, I provided my 2015 and seemed to work but later again asking, asking...

Tried uninstall AVG properly but had an error,
I remover 32 and 64bit, reboot and try installing
Tried to install AVG Pro but it fails at 87% of the installation...

Error code: 0xC0070643

Tried AVG_BEFix, reboot and try, but same error while installing...

Finally ran the Disgnose Setup 2013, got the zip file saved, and also sent it by email.

Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello S S,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Have you tried reinstalling AVG program using the AVG remover tool?
S SS S
Hi,
Thanks a lot for the quick respose. I did try the remover tool and all the steps your colleagues suggested to other users, several times unsuccessfully.
One of the comments here suggested to switch off the computer after running the remover, instead of restarting it, which helped, in combination with manually deleting all avg-related files (for some reason, these were not affected when running the remover tool), finishing with the CCleaner. So after 3 hours of struggle, the problem is soved. Hope you can provide more specific instructions to the topic above so users can save time browsing through dozens of comments of others.
Thanks a lot anyway!

I got error 0xC0070643 Description: Event exec_finished on more computers. Yes i have used the remover tool. No, i don't want to contact support because that takes me to much time and when you guys have a good solution you would write it here, wouldn't you?
So, what am i going to tell my customers? Can tou tell me that?

I also have a TuneUp installed i can't remove. Also not with Remover Tool though that tool recognizes TuneUp. And also no, ik don't want to contact support.

The worst is that when something strange happens a computer the first thing i do is removing AVG and see if the problem is gone. I have never had that with AVG.

May be this is the wrong forum (HomeSupport) but this is the correct error.0xC0070643

FIXED IT!! It took an hour and trying different solutions posted on here. For those of you that are still struggling, there is hope!

I followed the insructions set forth by "R M" on Feb 21, 2016. Those are
(1) Use AVG Remover. Do this fully, let your computer restart. Do it again. Let the computer restart. Then shut it down (do an actual shut down, not just a restart) [When I was doing this, I actually did a couple shut downs--one after the first AVG remove cycle and another after the second]. Power it back up.
(2) Delete the AVG Remover.
(3) Re-download AVG from the links that Divya posted (See below). Her comment was:

Click on the link below to uninstall AVG:

http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
Once uninstalling, please follow the steps below to reinstall AVG Free.
To determine whether your OS is a 32-bit or 64-bit, please click on this link.

After determining the OS please select the correct installation file to install AVG Antivirus Free

Solution (May not work for all cases):

1) Uninstall AVG Zen/Protection from your computer.
  - Right click Start Menu
  - Click Control Panel (Make sure its on Small Icons (Top Right Corner))
  - Select Programs and Features
  - Uninstall AVG Zen
2) After completion of the uninstallation (Restart if prompting), download and run the AVG Removal Tool (Found here: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe). Once done, restart you computer.
3) After restart, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG; select and delete everything. Most likely, you will be asked to skip a certain file that is in system use (Usually one of the .dll's found in the AV file). Press skip and continue with deleting the rest of the files, then go in the AV file, select all and delete and the file that is in system use will reveal itself. After this, just leave it.
4) Repeat step 2 of running the AVG Removal Tool.
5) After the restart, download and run CCleaner (Found here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
  - Once open, navigate to the 'Registry' tab, select 'Scan for Issues', it will find many, some of which will be the AVG registry links we are looking for.
  - Once done, select 'Fix selected issues', it is advisable to backup the registry just in case (Process will very rarely fail).
-This will remove these registry links.
6) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG; this should be removed. If it isn't, either:
  - Attempt to delete it again by selecting all and deleting.
  - Running the AVG Removal Tool again.

This process has cleaned AVG completely from your computer.

7) Download (Don't run just yet) the latest AVG Installation File (Found here: http://www.avg.com/au-en/thank-you?product=free-gsr&build=freegsr-800; Alternative: http://free.avg.com/au-en/free-downloads - Under AVG Protection, select Free Download)
8) Navigate to Downloads from Start Menu:
  - Start Menu
  - File Explorer
  - Downloads from Left Column
9) File the AVG Installation File:
  - Right Click and select Properties
  - Go to the Compatibility Tab.
  - Under the Compatibility Mode box, tick the box 'Run this Program in Compatibility mode for' and select 'Windows 7'.
  - Click 'Apply' and then 'Ok'.
10) Double click Installation file it should install as normal.

Please note that this will run AVG as it would in Windows 7, AVG will still need to bring a newer AVG version that will resolve this problem permanently.

Hope this solution works for you.

This is completely ridiculous! I have had the same error everyone else has been asking about.  The first message in this thread is dated 2015 Sept. 21.  It is now 2016 June 18.  In the hundreds of posts on this thread, everyone tries all the suggested steps to get past this error and nothing seems to work.  Then some AVG "guru" sends the person an email with some magical solution.  Two questions: (1) If this is a problem that so many people are having for over 9 months, why doesn't AVG have a solution posted online? (2) Better yet, why don't they have a new version of their software that solves the problem so that it installs correctly??  I have been an AVG user for many years and I have just spent multiple hours trying to make their software work.  I have had enough.  Good bye AVG.  I will find some other antivirus software that installs from one of your competitors.  You blew it and have lost another customer.

Guys i had this problem for the last 4 months...i thought i was just gonna give up BUT after reading the entire thread there is a solution i found that it worked for me. My system is a Windows 10 x64. I wanted to install the AVG Internet Security but kept getting that stupid error code. I had previous versions with no problems until i installed the 2016 Version. I decided to go back to the old version BUT again that dumb error code would pop up. So this is what i did (Step by Step)

1) Remove AVG thru Windows Settings APP remover (If its not there dont panic..lol)
2) Download the Latest edition of AVG Remover Software
3) Run the AVG Remover Software (This will pop up command promt and run...it will then ask you to     restart computer...once u restart the software will finnish running)
4) Remove/Delete the AVG Remover Software.
5) Go Download CCleaner (It's Free, and if u already have it good for you)
6) Run CCleaner with Default checks in place.
7) Now Run the Registry Cleaner on CCleaner (Before you run this you might want to save a log of the entries...it will ask you)
8) RUN REGISTRY CCLEANER AGAIN (this is the key because usually the first time leaves some bits over so you MUST run again 2-3-4 Times etc as long as there is no more registry errors.
9) Re-Start your computer after Registry Cleaning.
10) Install AVG (ANYTHING) and it will run....
